(Osgood, IN) – The Indiana Department of Natural Resources (DNR) awarded The Town of Osgood a $400,000 Trail Grant.
The town is one of 5 recipients of this grant.
Earlier this year, the town applied for funding from the 2023 round of the Indiana Trails Program.
The money will be used to expand and enhance the Osgood Trails. The current trails have been in place for almost a decade and were constructed around existing quarry ponds.
The latest proposal includes around 1.25 more miles of paved trails around the south quarry pond. The new trail section will take walkers and joggers along a more natural and scenic wood line, add several places to rest, and also help create a more prominent trailhead.
The funding for the expansion was made possible by the Gilmore & Golda Reynolds Foundation, which will provide a 20 percent match, which is equal to $100,000, for the project.
The community leaders’ goal is to have the new trail section completed by this time next year.
