(Greensburg, IN) – The State Road 46 bridge over Sand Creek in Greensburg is now closed for a deck replacement project.
Barricades were set up Monday.
The bridge is located between Base Road and South County Road 200 East, or between Levensteins Abbey Carpet and the Decatur County Highway Department.
The closure is expected to last through late September but INDOT says access to local businesses will be maintained.
The official detour is State Road 3 to I-74 to State Road 229.
The contract was awarded to Dave O’Mara Inc. for $1.5 million in September 2021 and included two small structure replacements which were completed late last year.
INDOT reminds drivers to use extra caution, avoid distractions, and consider worker safety when traveling through active construction zones.
The agency says all work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
