Janice James, 83, of Batesville, IN, passed away Tuesday, July 18th, 2023 at UC Health Drake Center in Cincinnati, OH. Janice was born in Chillicothe, OH on April 6, 1940, to the late Verna (Tucker) and Alton Dick, and was a graduate of Aurora High School. Janice married minister Ronald Gary James on July 5, 1958, in Lawrenceburg, IN, and spent many love-filled years together until his passing on January 23rd, 2015. Janice and her family had a love for music that showed in their love for the Lord. They sang and played gospel music together as a family; Janice also sang in the Versailles Church of Christ ladies’ singing group and other choirs throughout her life.
Janice is survived by a sister, Joyce Hillagoss (John), of Big Rapids, MI; a daughter, Debbie Nuesse (Jeff) of Barboursville, WV; grandchildren, Brandon Nuesse (Bridget), Derek James (Liz), Breanna Adkins (Chris), Matt James (Haylee); great-grandchildren, Brighton Nuesse, Bryce Nuesse, Brently Nuesse, Marlee Adkins, Daniel James, Eva James, Kenslee James, Asa James, and one great-grandchild on the way.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Verna Dick; her husband, Ronald James; brother, Charles Alton Dick; and sons, Timothy James, and Daniel James.
The funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, July 22nd, 2023 at Markland Funeral Home in Rising Sun, IN.
