Andrew Michael Murphy, 45 of Oldenburg, Indiana passed away at home on Thursday, July 13, 2023. The son of Patrick and Cynthia (Kupanoff) Murphy was born on January 25, 1978 in Springfield, Ohio.
Andy as most knew him, graduated from Catholic Central High School in Springfield, Ohio. In 2000 he graduated from Indiana University with a Bachelor of Science Degree. On May 19, 2012, Andy married his love, Brooke Meier in Brookville, IN.
Andy was an avid IU fan, especially during his time as a student manager for Coach Knight. He loved following sports and sharing his knowledge about them. One of the things Andy loved to do any place he worked was start what he liked to call, “Dance Party Friday”. A tradition he started at multiple jobs over many companies and years. After he stopped working he stayed connected to those work friends and started the ‘dance party’ tradition most every day at home with his family.
Throughout his battle with ALS, Andy stayed true to his faith in God. He showed his strength of character, never complaining as he progressed. He was a faithful member of St. Louis Catholic Church and the Knights of St. John.
The most important and proudest part of Andy’s life were his kids. Becoming a dad and having his own family was the highlight of his life. He was a great father and husband, always putting his family and his faith first. He was an incredible model of perseverance in the face of the unimaginable and did so with an immense amount of love, patience and grace.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, Brooke; children, Kerrigan Murphy and Andrew Murphy II; parents, Patrick & Cindy Murphy of Springfield, OH; one brother, Patrick Murphy II of Athens, OH; and two sisters, Erin Reed (Adam) of Columbus, OH, and Anne Smith (Daniel) of Indianapolis; father & mother-in-law, Joseph and Sharon (Kirschner) Meier; along with several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in addition to many friends.
Visitation will be Friday, July 21, 2023 from 4-7pm at Meyers Funeral Home with Rosary prayer service prior at 3:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00am on Saturday, July 22, 2023 at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville. Burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery.
