Mildred Elizabeth Sweppenheiser, 101, of Loveland, OH, passed away Wednesday, June 28, 2023.
She was born December 9, 1921, in Guilford, IN, daughter of the late Frank Lutz and Matilda (Sumser) Lutz.
Mildred enjoyed a full life during her 101 years. She saw the rise of the automobile, the invention of the refrigerator, the telephone, the TV, and the personal computer among thousands of other items. Raised on a farm as a child of the Depression, Millie knew how to stretch a dollar. She was an avid gardener and kept large vegetable & flower gardens most of her life. She loved sewing and made clothes for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Millie enjoyed the hunt for a good deal at a garage sale, (especially finding a unique doll in a dusty heap) and telling stories with friends and family.
Mildred is survived by her son, Dale (Joann) Loftus of New Palestine, IN; grandchildren, Angela (Neal) Ryan, Elizabeth Loftus, Brad (Torrey) Loftus and Natalie (Dave) Henderson; great-grandchildren, Tom Ryan, Mary Ryan and Iris Henderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Matilda; first husband, Loren Loftus; husband, Gordon Sweppenheiser; sisters, Hazel Kerr, Elsie Tilker, and Margie Gulley; brother, Russell Lutz; and great-granddaughter, Jade Henderson.
Friends will be received Saturday, July 8, 2023, 10:00 am – 11:00 am at the Aurora First Baptist Church, 6060 Blair Road, Aurora, IN.
Services will be held immediately following visitation at the church at 11:00 am.
Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, IN.
