(Greensburg, IN) – The 29th annual Decatur Golf Tournament benefitting Our Hospice of Central Indiana pulled in an estimated $35-thousand, 500.
Twenty-four teams and 96 golfers hit the links at Greensburg Country Club on June 16 for the annual fundraiser benefitting the agency’s patients and families in the Decatur County service area.
The team of Trent Gray, Brandon Meyer, Kim Ging, and Cory Ging was this year’s winning foursome with a score of 15 under par 55.
More than $745,000 has been raised over the past 29 years for the patients and families cared for by the Our Hospice Greensburg team.
“That number would not be possible without the amazing support of our community,” said Our Hospice Event and Volunteer Services Manager Julie Davis. “We want to thank all the golf participants and sponsors of this event who give so generously and faithfully.”
“Proceeds from the Decatur Golf Tournament help provide expert end-of-life care and services for Our Hospice patients and their families,” said Steph Cain, Our Hospice President. “Last year we provided $68,000 in uncompensated professional medical care, in addition to support services and bereavement care for our patients and their families.
“Funds to pay for the cost of this care are provided through memorial gifts, community donations, and fundraising events like the Decatur Golf Tournament. We are so grateful to all those who have supported us throughout the 29 years of this tournament,” added Cain.
In 2022, the team and volunteers cared for over 1,600 patients, 434 people with an advanced illness in the Decatur County service area, and made over 271 bereavement contacts with patient family members.
The 30th annual golf outing is set for June 14, 2024.
