(Versailles, IN) – Indiana State Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the Ripley County Jail.
EMS was called to the facility on Monday for an unconscious 56-year-old female inmate.
The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office says the woman stopped breathing and rescuers started CPR.
After additional medical personnel arrived on the scene, the woman was pronounced dead.
Sheriff Rob Bradley requested ISP begin an independent investigation.
Bradley has directed sheriff’s office staff to cooperate with state police investigators.
The name of the woman and the charges on which she was being held have not been released.
