(Indianapolis, IN) – Former state representative Marc Carmichael is running for Indiana’s soon-to-open U.S. Senate seat in 2024.
Carmichael is the first Democrat to get into the race to succeed Sen. Mike Braun, who is vacating the seat to run for Governor.
He needs to collect 500 verified voter signatures in each of Indiana’s nine congressional districts in order to get his name on the ballot.
The 73-year-old Carmichael served in the Indiana House from 1986 until 1991 before he stepped down to become the governmental affairs director for the Indiana Gas Company.
Carmichael also served as president of the Indiana Beverage Alliance from 1999 until 2020.
