Michael Schlacter, 72, of Lake Santee, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 20, 2023. Mike was a brilliant, strong-willed man who left an indelible mark on the lives he touched.
Mike was born to John P. Schlacter and Josephine (Tomko) Toth in Allentown, Pennsylvania, on July 6, 1950. He graduated from William Allen High School in Allentown. After graduating from Georgia Tech with a degree in Industrial Engineering, Mike married the love of his life, Claudia (Tyson) Schlacter, on March 10, 1973. During their 44 years of marriage, Mike and Claudia made countless memories with their two children.
Mike’s professional accomplishments were a testament to his business acumen and tenacity. He enjoyed a fulfilling career in engineering and management, proudly retiring early. Mike was a walking encyclopedia of knowledge, possessing a remarkable memory and a love for learning. He was an avid reader, enjoyed music across all genres, and loved to travel and try new foods. Despite his small stature, Mike’s personality loomed large. He cherished long conversations with his loved ones, relishing in spirited debates and sharing stories from his youth.
Mike will be missed dearly. He is survived by his daughter, Brittany Schlacter; son, Dan Schlacter; and brothers: Chris Toth, Mark Toth, and Andy Toth. He was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia; his parents; and his brother, John Schlacter.
