(Ripley County, IN) – Several departments battled a house fire early Thursday morning on the 1900 block of U.S. 50 west of Versailles.
Crews arriving on the scene just after 4:30 am found a fully engulfed house with flames threatening several nearby structures.
Firefighters were able to contain the spread of the fire, but the home is listed as a total loss.
There’s no word on the cause of the blaze, and there were no injuries reported.
U.S. 50 between County Road 300 West and US 421 was shut down for several hours Thursday morning during the firefighting operation.
Responding agencies included Versailles Fire Rescue; the Otter Creek (Holton), Osgood, and Napoleon volunteer fire departments; Ripley County EMS; the Holton Police Department, and the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office.
