North Decatur varsity softball gives up 7 runs in back-to-back innings in loss against Hauser

Back-to-back 7-run innings by Hauser proved costly to the North Decatur varsity softball, as they fell to the Jets 16-2 on Thursday

North Decatur Decatur’s only lead of the game was 1-0 after the first inning.

The big seven-run third inning for Hauser came thanks to singles by Lexie Hamilton, Regan Mack, and Maley Jordan, a triple by Isabelle Brunner, a groundout by Hannah Taylor, and a double by Reagan Johnson.

Paige McDaniel led things off on the rubber for Hauser. The fireballer surrendered one run on two hits over three innings, striking out seven and walking zero.

Sarah Swain led things off in the circle for North Decatur Chargers. The lefthander allowed 18 hits and 14 runs over three innings, walking zero. Elizabeth Meister threw one inning in relief.

North Decatur racked up five hits on the day. Kacie Ogden and Swain both managed two hits for the Chargers. Swain and Ogden all had two hits to lead the team.

Hauser had 23 hits in the game. Maley Jordan, Isabelle Brunner, Lexie Hamilton, Kyra Meister, and Lucie Asher all had multiple hits for Hauser.
