St. Louis Catholic School competed in their first meet of the season with Milan, Southwestern, Rising Sun, and South Ripley on 4/10/2023 at South Ripley. The boys finished second with 64 points trailing Rising Sun by 3 points. Girls placed first with 60 points, a 6-point margin over second place Milan.
Boys event results
St. Louis boys took first and second in the discus. Cayden Lieland threw 85’0”, and Ethan Meer threw a personal record of 73’3”.
Jeff Gerstbauer took first in the shot put with a throw of 37’1.5”. Jeff also took third place in the high jump with a height of 4’6”.
Griffin Koester finished first in the mile with a time of 5:16. Adam Weber took second in the mile with a 5:28.
The boys 4×100 meter took first with a time of 54.05. The relay team consisted of Ethan Meer, Adam Weber, Jeff Gerstbauer, and Cayden Lieland
Griffin Koester took first in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:03. Adam Weber took second in the event with a 1:04.
Jeff Gerstbauer took first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.93.
The 4×400 meter relay team finished first. The relay team of Will Huber, Cayden Lieland, Adam Weber, and Griffin Koester ran a time of 4:22.67.
Girls event results
Bella Watson finished second in the discus throwing 57’2”.
Maggie Tekulve took second on the girl’s shot put with 23’11.5”. Mary Kara Wanstrath finished third in the event with a throw of 21’11.5”.
Alejandra Schutte took third in the long jump with a top jump of 12’0”.
Belle Young finished first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.14.
Maci Smith finished third in the 100-meter dash in 14.95 seconds.
Mara Kara Wanstrath finished third in the 1600-meter run, running a 6:23 in the event.
St. Louis finished second in 4×100 meter relay, clocking 1:00 with the team of Maci Smith, Bella Watson, Belle Young, and Izzy Dierckman.
Mara Kara finished second in the 400-meter dash with a 1:10 second finish.
Maggie Tekulve finished second with a time of 2:48 in the 800-meter run.
Ava Becker took third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 31.64.
The 4×400 meter team finished first, beating the 2013 school record by thirteen-hundredths of a second, clocking 4:48.87. The record-breaking team consisted of Belle Young, Maci Smith, Maggie Tekulve, and Mary Kara Wanstrath.
