Milan Aquatics sent a total of 22 athletes (13 girls and 9 boys) to Center Grove High School this past
weekend to participate in the 2023 Southeast Indiana USA Swim Divisional meet.
All swimmers who achieved qualifying cut times in events throughout the winter were eligible to swim in this meet which is a great accomplishment and goal for local swimmers.
Kids representing Milan, South Ripley, Batesville, Oldenburg and St. Louis schools swim with the Milan program, which is the only winter swim program in Ripley County.
Divisional meet includes clubs from the southeast quarter of Indiana from Connersville to Center Grove in the north to Seymour and Madison in the south.
Prelim rounds are contested on Saturday. Consolation and final rounds are held on Sunday.
Swimmers from the local program performed at a high level and achieved personal best times, and some even qualified for the final state meet later this month.

Standout performances were for the following kids:
- Seth Thomas, Boys 12U, 1st in the 50 and 100 Backstroke, 2nd in the 200 IM, 2nd in 50 Freestyle, 2nd in 200 Freestyle and 3rd in 100 Freestyle
- Alexis Schiller, Girls 12 U, 2nd in 100 Breaststroke, 4th in 50 Breaststroke
- Taylor Stock, Girls 12 U, 2nd 100 Backstroke, 9th in 200 Freestyle
- Emilee Knueven, Girls 18U, 3rd in the 1650 Freestyle marathon
- JJ Mutz, Boys 14U, 3rd in 200 Breaststroke
- Caiden Felver, Boys 10U, 5th in 100 Breaststroke, 7th in 50 Breast
- Elizabeth McKittrick, Girls 18U, 6th in 50 Freestyle and 9th in 100 Back
- Brady Begley, Boys 14U, 7th in 200 Breaststroke
- Molly Knecht, Girls 14U, 7th in 200 Butterfly
- Ross Lieland, Boys 10U, 9th in 100 Free and 10th in 200 Free
Out of this group, three swimmers met state cut times and will advance to the state championships.
Milan junior, Dylan Thomas, will compete at the Senior Championships at Pike High School in Indianapolis this weekend. His brother, Seth Thomas and Taylor Stock, will swim at the Age Group State Championships at the IU Natatorium in Indianapolis in two weeks.
