Ripley County, IN — The Ripley County Reads Park Hop begins March 1 and runs through May 6.
The Park Hop is a free, community-wide scavenger hunt throughout the 20 area parks, trails, and natural areas in Ripley County.
It was started by the Batesville Memorial Public Library, the Osgood Public Library, Tyson Library, and the Ripley County Tourism Bureau to promote literacy, a sense of community, and education throughout the county.
Participants can visit the parks and answer clues in the Park Hop Passport, which can be picked up at any public library in Ripley County or at Pat’s Bulk Foods in Versailles.
They are also available for download at ripleycountyreads.com.
For participants under 18 years old, there will be prizes and drawing entries for answering clues at one, 10, or all of the parks.
These prizes will be given away at the finale celebration on May 6, which will take place from 11 am until 1 pm at the Versailles State Park Shimmerhorn Shelter. The family-friendly celebration will include nature walks, a Nature Center program on reptiles, Kid’s Discovery Factory mobile exhibits, swag bags, and door prize drawings.
Adults and families attending the Park Hop Finale on May 6 will be entered into a drawing for an Indiana State Park pass ($50 value).
