On Thursday night, the Lady Cardinals traveled the winding roads to face the Lady Yellow Jackets of Laurel. After almost shutting out Laurel in their last matchup, this game brought out a much improved Laurel team.
St. Louis jumped out to an early lead led by Bella Watson, Maci Smith, and Solar Scheel. At halftime, Saint Louis led 15-7.
In the second half, St. Louis got some new scorers in the books. Alice Austin and Katie Hohenstein each scored their first two points in a 6th-grade game.
St. Louis had a scare late with their two leading scorers, Bella Watson and Maci Smith, fouling out of the game, but Ellie Weberding, Claire Baker, and Lydia Dwyer turned in great defensive showings to help the Cardinals get the win.
