ISP warns public of phone scam

Versailles, IN — Indiana State Police at the Versailles Post has received reports of scammers calling area residents and requesting personal information.

Troopers say scammers use a computer program to make the call, with the intent of having the recipient believe the call is coming from the Versailles Post.

ISP will not randomly call someone to obtain information.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be a police officer and something doesn’t seem right, you can simply hang up or offer to call the agency to verify the identity of the officer.
