On Monday night, the St. Louis 8th grade boys traveled to Milan for round 1 of the SEI tournament, falling to Milan by a final score of 37-40.
The Cardinals fought back from a halftime deficit of 15-23 and brought it back to point-for-point. St. Louis would then let them draw away again but fought back hard, and within the last minute of the game, it was point-for-point again.
Down by 6pts with 33 seconds on the clock, Adam Weber came down and hit a 3, putting St. Louis within 3pts, but the clock ran down to below 5 seconds, and Milan just held the ball out of bounds to let it drain. It was a hard-fought game by the Cardinals.
Scoring for SLS was Adam Weber with 12pts, David Koch with 11pts, Griff Koester with 7pts, Cayden Lieland with 3pts, and both Kaden Maple and Augie Hillenbrand bringing 2pts each. Carsen Hartwell played a great game, also with many assists and steals.
