Herbert Lawrence Koors, 74, of Milroy, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord on January 12, 2023 surrounded by his family and loved ones. Herb was born August 10, 1948 in Greensburg to parents Alvin and Mildred (Hahn) Koors.
Herb married Marcia Shafer on July 11, 1970 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg. Together they had three wonderful children, Paul, Tammy, and Doug.
Herb enjoyed woodworking, the Koors Monday night chicken frys at the K of C, and doing body work on vehicles. He worked many years as an auto-body technician. He also enjoyed cold Bud Light and was an avid John Deere lover. He loved working with his hands; his hands were some of the hardest working hands anyone would ever know. He loved mowing the yard, working in his garage, and snoring in his chair with his dogs. But among all these passions, the thing he loved the most was his family. There are not enough words to describe how proud he was of all his family. From attending two generations of sporting events, to hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas every year, Herb’s love for his family is something that will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Koors of Milroy, IN; three brothers: Rick Koors of Greensburg, IN; Jerry (Angel) Koors of Greensburg, IN; Jeff (Faith) Koors of Greensburg, IN; three sisters: Becky Koors of Indianapolis, IN; Sister Joanita Koors (Doris) of Oldenburg, IN; Debbie (Steve) Weston of Greensburg, IN; long time close family friend, Peggy Moore of Indianapolis, IN; sister-in-law, Phyllis Koors; his three children: Paul (Tammy Bennett) Koors of Rushville, IN; Doug (Beth) Koors of Greensburg, IN; and Tammy (Eric) Harnishfeger of Batesville, IN. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Tom Koors of Tulsa, OK; and his sister-in-law, Cheryl Koors.
Family and friends will gather at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg to pray the rosary. Visitation will follow until 11:00 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 a.m., also at the church, with Father John Meyer officiating. Interment will be held in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg.
