Edward L. King, age 72 of Moores Hill, died Monday, December 26, 2022 at his home. Born July 14, 1950 at the Stork Hospital in Huntingburg, Indiana, he is the son of Louella (Nee: Esarey) and Lowell King. He married Jane Bender August 21, 1971 at St. Paul’s Church in Tell City, Indiana. She preceded him in death on September 19, 2009. On April 23, 2022 he married Brenda Hensley at St. John’s Church in Dover, Indiana. Ed was a teacher for 35 years before retiring in 2007. He was with Sunman-Dearborn Schools for five years and then spent 30 years at South Dearborn Schools.
Ed was best known for his peaceful, faith-filled personality. He was very patient and a wonderful teacher, both professionally and in every aspect of his life. He pondered questions and responded with genuine answers. He was a caring listener, always wanting to really know how people were doing. He was generous in volunteering his time, talents, and treasures at church, with his family, his community, and Haiti mission work.
In his letters, he would frequently write, “Jesus is the best friend you will ever have. The more time you spend with Him, the closer you’ll get. Remember to Pray, Hope, and Don’t Worry.” He spent many hours in prayer and serving others — a true example of a wonderful Christian man.
Ed is survived by his by his wife Brenda; daughter Sara (Michael) Graf of Yorkville, Indiana; step daughters Cristie Williamson of Milan, Rhonda Walker of Dillsboro; son Rob (Lisa) King of Batesville; step son Dale Hensley of Fishers, Indiana; brothers Jim King of Green Castle, Indiana, Curt King, Mike King and Dave King of Santa Claus, Indiana, Ralph King of Fort Mills, North Carolina; 10 grandchildren, 10 step grandchildren and 13 step great grandchildren. In addition to his wife Jane and his parents, he is also preceded in death by stepson Bobby Collier.
Visitation is Thursday, December 29th, from 4 – 7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. A rosary service will be held at 4 p.m. Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 30th at St. Charles Church in Milan with Rev. Shaun Whittington officiating.
