Ripley County, IN — A large number of people and groups fanned out across Ripley County on Wreaths Across America Day Saturday to lay wreaths at more than 4,000 local veterans’ gravesites.

It was part of Wreaths Across Ripley County, an initiative of the Ripley County Community Foundation.

Support was provided by a multitude of volunteers.

A remembrance ceremony was also held at Noon at the Veterans Monument on the Ripley County Courthouse lawn.

The purpose behind the initiative is to remember fallen US veterans, honor those who serve, and teach young people the value of freedom.

Donations for Wreaths Across Ripley County are being accepted throughout the year.
