Bernalda Crowell, age 89 of Napoleon, passed away early on Thursday December 8, 2022. She was born on February 13, 1933 in Knott County, Kentucky the daughter of the late Perry and Anna (Collins) Sloan.
She grew up in Kentucky and attended Hindman High School. She was a graduate of the class of 1952. She continued her education at Lees Junior College in Jackson, Kentucky. She married Guy Vanover and they lived in Louisville, Kentucky. They were blessed with two sons Boyd and David. Guy was involved in a fatal car crash in the 1960’s.
After Guy’s death, she and the boys moved to Indiana. Bernalda would meet and marry James Peetz, they were blessed with daughter Bernadine. As life continued she would eventually marry Lester Crowell and they were married until his death in 2005.
She was a proud member of Solid Rock Bible Fellowship of Napoleon. She enjoyed life and helping others. She like to make quilts, do cross word puzzles, working her garden and canning.
Bernalda will be missed by sons Boyd (Charlotte) and David (Lorie) Vanover of Napoleon, daughter Bernadine Palmer of Versailles, brother Harold (Diann) Sloan of Salem, IN, sisters Ophelia (Jack) Profit of Michigan, and Henrietta Franklin of Versailles, 8 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lowell, Elmer, and James, and sisters Audrey Carson, Iona Arnette, Zelma Grossman and Lorraine Gridley.
Visitation will be held on Monday December 12, 2022 from 10 am.-12 pm. at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Funeral services will be held at 12 pm. with Pastor Dennis Werner officiating.
