The Batesville boy’s 8th-grade basketball team played this past weekend in The Reindeer Round-Up Tournament at Waldron High School. The Bulldogs came home with the Championship trophy after defeating host Waldron in their first game and then Indian Creek in the championship.
The Bulldogs won the opening game against Waldron by a score of 55 to 39. The Dogs jumped out to a 28 to an 18-point lead at halftime and never looked back. Leading the Bulldogs in scoring for the game were Carson Hartley with 18 points, Cole Abrams with 11, Kamryn Holcomb with 9, Caleb Laker with 7, James Hughes with 6, and Braydin Hughes with 4.
In the Championship game against Indian Creek, the Bulldogs won by a score of 61 to 42. The championship game was a total team effort as every player contributed to the victory by either passing, rebounding, or playing great defense. Players scoring in the game were Carson Hartley with 15 points, James Hughes with 13, Braydin Hughes with 11, Kamryn Holcomb with 9, Caleb Laker with 4, Preston Blessing with 4, Ian Hixson with 3, and Cole Abrams with 2.
The two wins now bring the Bulldog’s season record to 11 wins and 1 loss. The Bulldogs will next play Tuesday, Dec. 6th as they travel to Northside Middle School-Columbus.
