Mrs. Normalene (Graves) Adkins, age 78, of Vevay, Indiana, entered this life on December 12, 1943 at home on Lake Geneva Road in Vevay, Indiana. She was the loving daughter of the late, Francis E. Graves and Rosie J. (Earls) and Denver Rayles. She was raised on Lake Geneva Road and was a cheerleader and graduated from Vevay High School, class of 1962. Normalene was united in marriage to Donald E. Poling and joined him in Spain during his time in the Air Force. They shared seven years together and was blessed with three children, Ladonna, Pamela and Wesley. On May 12, 1972, Normalene was united in marriage to Thomas Lee “Tom” Adkins at the Mt. Sterling Baptist Church in Mt. Sterling, Indiana. Normalene and Tom shared over 50 years of marriage together and they were blessed with one daughter, Carrianne. Normalene was a former employee for Conn Organ in Madison, Indiana for 10 years. She was later employed for the US Shoe Factory in Vevay, Indiana until 1998. In 1999, Normalene was employed as a phone operator for Belterra Casino & Resort in Florence, Indiana, retiring in 2018 after 19 years of service. Normalene enjoyed reading, Facebook and traveling, as well as, going on trips with her dog, Rudy. Normalene passed away at 3:09 a.m., Monday, November 14, 2022, at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Normalene will be deeply missed by her children, Ladonna Phillips of Vevay, IN, Pam Davis and her husband: Mike of Muncie, IN, Wesley Poling and his wife, Ragina of Vevay, IN and Carrianne Wilhoite of Carrollton, KY; her grandchildren, Justin Hartman, Sierra Phillips, Michael “Brandon” Davis, Ashley Poling, Avery Poling, Amanda Wilhoite, Courtnei Gibson and Dalton Wilhoite; her great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Nicholas and Michael Davis and her many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Francis E. Graves; her mother and step-father, Rosie J. (Earls) and Denver Rayles; her husband, Thomas Lee “Tom” Adkins, died August 8, 2022; her grandson, Ryan Poling and her brothers, Donald and Carl Graves.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2022 at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 18, 2022, by Rev. Mike Jones, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
