Greensburg- The North Decatur Lady Charger Basketball team traveled to county foe Greensburg to take on the Lady Pirates on Tuesday night. In a game that saw both teams go on tremendous runs, the Pirates came out on top 62-56.
Greensburg opened up the game by shooting very well from behind the three-point arch. The Pirates connected on 5 three-pointers in the first period to go up 21-11. The Lady Chargers were balanced in their attack offensively but could not keep pace early on the other end of the floor.
North edged the Pirates in the second quarter behind 5 points from sophomore Kelsey Haley and 4 points from Junior Ella Kunz. North closed the gap in the quarter after being down 32-14 at one point. At the break, the Chargers trailed 33-25.
Greensburg came back out on the attack in the 3rd quarter with two threes from Carlee Adams. Madi Allen answered back with two nice dribble drives to stop the bleeding and Sydney Rohls knocked in 3 points, while still trailing 53-39 after three.
North went inside early and often in the 4th quarter, where Kunz had 9 points. Clare Kinker also chipped in two clutch baskets. The stingy defense of the Chargers closed the gap in a hurry and the game got as close as a one-possession game, but in the end, the Lady Pirates always had an answer.
The loss drops North to 1-3 on the season after several close, hard fought defeats. They look to rebound on the road Saturday night at Batesville.
