Alberta June (nee Ochs) Lewis passed away at the age of 100 at her residence in Dillsboro on Monday, September 12, 2022. Alberta was born on Friday, June 9, 1922 in Dillsboro, Indiana, daughter of Albert and Mary (nee Weiss) Ochs. Alberta married her loving husband, John W. Lewis, on October 22, 1944 and he preceded her in death on October 6, 2015. She worked for the Moores Hill School for 40+ years as a secretary. She was a member of the Dillsboro United Methodist Church and the Good News Club. She enjoyed attending the church organizations and going to Baptist Church services with her daughter, Susan. Alberta loved reading and going to her grandchildren’s sporting events. She enjoyed the weekly calls and visits from her former boss and friend Dave Koehler.
Alberta will be greatly missed by her son Tom Lewis (Pamela) of Dillsboro; daughter Susan Greco (Fortunato “Lucky”) of Dillsboro; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Alberta was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Mary Ochs, husband John Lewis, brothers Norman and Lester Ochs, and grandson John Greco.
Family and friends may gather in remembering Alberta from 10:00am – 12:00pm on Friday, September 16, 2022 at the Dillsboro United Methodist Church, 10071 Front Street, Dillsboro, IN 47018. A service will immediately follow at 12:00pm with Pastor Deb Beason officiating. Burial will take place in Oakdale Cemetery. Memorials may be given in honor of Alberta to the Oakdale Cemetery or the Dillsboro Good News Club.
