Joann Eileen Hayes, age 84, of Milan passed away Sunday, September 11, 2022, at her residence. She was born April 24, 1938, in Lawrenceburg, IN a daughter to John and Lorena Russel Holt. After graduating high school, Joann married the love of her life, Chadsworth Hayes on May 25, 1958, in Lawrenceburg. She spent her life as a homemaker tending to her family.
Joann lived a simple life. She enjoyed gardening and loved her flowers. She enjoyed collecting antiques and was always ready to go to auctions seeking her next item to bring home. Most of all Joann took pride in her grandchildren.
Survived to cherish Joann’s memories is her four daughters: Carla (Kevin) Shannon of East Enterprise, Melanie (John) McCracken of Milan, Kim Hayes of Milan, Mary (Brandon Mulligan) Hayes of Rising Sun; one brother: Richard (Joyce) Holt of Milan; six grandchildren: Joshua Shannon, Caleb Shannon, Hannah Sheets, Alyssa Mulligan, Holden Mulligan, Robin Palmer; seven great-grandchildren: Griffin Onishea, Lincoln Shannon, Alexis Huesman, Alizah Buchanan, Jasmine Chadwell, Libby Shannon, Summer Shannon; five great-great-grandchildren: Alexander Hendershot, Maximus Chadwell, Jazlyn Chadwell, Riah Huesman and Dean Huesman
Joann was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years Chadsworth Hayes; four brothers: William Holt, John Holt, Donald Holt, Larry Holt and one sister, Janet Marsh.
