Snowy roads are making travel difficult, if not dangerous in Southeastern Indiana.
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning for the region, which is in effect until 7 p.m.
Hazardous travel conditions are expected due to reduced visibilities and snow accumulations from 3-5 inches.
Area police departments have remained busy responding to accidents and slide-offs around the area. Batesville Police reported two accidents occurring on Huntersville Road and S.R. 229 due to slick roads on Thursday morning.
Motorists returning to work for the first time in 2014 have also voiced concern on social media.
“Well I’ve made it half way to work and watched 5 people wreck,” a Decatur County resident stated on Facebook.
A Ripley County commuter also reported ice covered conditions on S.R. 129.
The difficult travel conditions have forced county agencies to issue advisories. Franklin County Sheriff Ken Murphy issued a Level 2 travel advisory, meaning only essential travel is recommended. Decatur County is on a Level 1 travel advisory.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time to arrive at their destination or avoid travel, if possible.
