STATEHOUSE — State Rep. Randy Lyness (R-West Harrison) has reacted to Gov. Eric Holcomb’s plan to call state lawmakers back to the Statehouse for a special session to provide inflation relief to Hoosier taxpayers:
“High inflation continues to squeeze our pocketbooks and family budgets. Getting money back into the hands of Hoosiers will help ease the burden. Returning about $1 billion to Hoosiers through the automatic taxpayer refund is a responsible and quick way to provide some relief to hardworking taxpayers who are struggling,” Lyness said.
Under the proposal, $225 would be added to each automatic taxpayer refund in the state.
The governor already approved refund checks for $125, which means each taxpayer would get $350 this year.
Married couples who file jointly would receive 700 dollars.
The Governor is expected to call the special session before the end of June.
Lyness represents House District 68, which includes portions of Franklin and Dearborn counties and all of Union County.
