The final two boys golf sectionals of area interest were played Monday in Liberty and Madison.
The Union County Sectional at the Liberty Country Club was won by Richmond scoring 331. Connersville came in second at 336 and Northeastern took third with 345. All three teams have qualified for Thursday’s Muncie Central Regional at The Players Club.
Franklin County missed the cut by 10 strokes placing fourth at 355. Rushville was eighth at 409.
The Spartans Cooper Kinney was the individual sectional champion firing a 76. Other scores from the advancing CHS squad were: Will Chalker 85, Gage Brown 87, Conner Graves 88 and Dylan Thomas 95.
Low rounds for the Wildcats were 86 by Peyton McCreary and 88 by Drew Meyer. Sam Smith’s 98 led the Lions.
The Madison Sectional at Sunrise was delayed by weather both before it started and during the match. The sectional took around 10 hours to complete.
The top three teams advancing to Thursday’s Providence Regional are champion Austin posting 298, runner up Madison with 315 and Scottsburg which tallied 340.
Austin’s Blake Stamper won the individual sectional title with a 72.
Other team scores of interest saw Switzerland County sixth at 373, Southwestern Hanover eighth at 403, Shawe ninth with 415 and Rising Sun 10th at 447. South Ripley did not have a team score.
The Pacers Bryce Wrightsman was among the top three individuals on a non-advancing team. Wrightsman’s 82 earned him a spot at Champions Pointe Thursday.
Best individual scores among other area teams were: 85 by the Rebels Matt Mingione, 90 from the Shiners Casey Fletcher, 95 via David Grote of the Hilltoppers and 110 by the Raiders Eli Liming.
