Mrs. Thelma Joyce (May) Eve, age 89, of Lexington, Kentucky, entered this life on November 28, 1932 in Carrollton, Kentucky. She was the daughter of the late Thomas Benton May, Sr. and Mabel (Welch) May. She was raised around southern Indiana and was a 1952 graduate of the Vevay High School. On June 14, 1957, Thelma was united in marriage to Clarence Robert Eve in Austin, Indiana. This happy union of nearly 56 years was blessed with four children. Thelma was a wonderful homemaker and military wife throughout Clarence’s military career that spanned over 23 years. Thelma and Clarence resided for 15 years in Georgetown, Kentucky. After Clarence’s passing, Thelma moved to the Lexington, Kentucky community where she had resided since 2014. She enjoyed painting ceramics, antiquing, listening to music, as well as, flowers and gardening. She loved animals and was a wonderful pet sitter. When it came to keeping the peace in the family, you could always count on Thelma to be the peacemaker. Above all, Thelma loved her family and spending time with her grandchildren brought great joy to her life. Thelma passed away at 2:51 a.m., Monday, May 2, 2022, at the Baptist Health in Lexington, Kentucky.
Thelma will be deeply missed by her daughter, Deanna Sontag and her husband, Doug of Lexington, KY; her sons, James Eve and his wife, Sidney of Winchester, KY, John Darren Eve of Lexington, KY and Brian Scott Eve and his wife, Lori of Lexington, KY; her grandchildren, James Christian Eve and his wife, Michelle and Brian Thomas Eve all of Amarillo, TX; her great-grandchildren, Marcus and Anthony Eve; her brother, Carlos May and his wife, Charlotte of Dupont, IN and her several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Benton May, Sr. and Mabel (Welch) May; her husband, Clarence Robert Eve, died March 8, 2013; her infant brother, Henry May; her brothers, Leslie Elston “Jethro” May, James Thurston May, Sr., Bennie Carroll May, Thomas Benton “Tommy” May, Jr. and Kenneth D. May and her sisters, Evelyn Willhoite and Mary Jane Fuller.
Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2022, at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, May 6, 2022 by Pastor Shawn McMullen at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay, Indiana 47043.
Interment will follow in the Vevay Cemetery, Vevay, Indiana.
