Baseball recaps from Tuesday, April 19

The following are baseball recaps from Tuesday, April 19.  All events are varsity unless noted otherwise.  There may be updates, so please check back.

Batesville got by Franklin County 5-4.

The Bulldogs Jack Grunkemeyer had two doubles and two RBI.  Jacob Meer hit the go-ahead solo shot in the sixth.  Max Baumer had two hits.  Dime Adams picked up the win pitching 2-2/3 innings of relief with seven strikeouts and two walks.

For the Brookville boys, Adam Daugherty pitched six strong innings and pitched in two hits and two RBI at the plate. Kristian Prows also batted in two runs.  All FC runs came in the fourth inning.

Jac-Cen-Del lost 7-6 in nine innings at Waldron.

The Eagles scored the tying and go-ahead runs in the top of the seventh only to see the Mohawks plate a run in the home seventh to force extra play.

Jac’s Brady Borgman batted in three runs on two doubles and a single.  Kameron Darnold and Justin Swinney both had two hits.  Swinney also doubled and knocked in a run.

For the Mohawks, Bryce Yarling had three hits with a ribbie and Jared Brooks plated three runs with a double.

Connersville canned Union County 10-1.

Braxton Myers and Chance Bentley both had four hits to lead CHS.  Bentley doubled twice and drove in four runs. Myers had one two bagger and one RBI.  Brayden Lykens singled and doubled.  Gavin Pearson was the winning pitcher with six strikeouts and no walks.

John Ridenour and Brady Woeste both had a pair of hits for the Patriots.

Southwestern Hanover doubled up New Washington 10-5.

Jamison Lewis and Gage Ponder both batted in a run on three hits for the Rebels.  Zach Cole doubled twice.  William Stockdale had two hits and ribbie.  Ponder struck out eight in the win.  Stockdale fanned three and got a save.

North Decatur’s junior high played in a five inning doubleheader at Hauser.

The Charger took the first game 11-2 with a complete game pitching effort from Hayden Ramsey that included seven strikeouts.   At the plate, Robert Young recorded three hits and Garrett Schwering logged two.

The Jets won the second game 5-3.

ND was limited to four hits all coming from Hayden and Dekon Ramsey.  Ayden Sefton pitched four solid innings giving up two earned runs on two hits with three strikeouts. Teammate Garrett Schwering made a great sliding catch in left field.
