Wilbur Ray Zimmer

Wilbur Ray Zimmer, 90, of Batesville, passed away April 12, 2022 at home on his farm.

He was born on December 6, 1931 in Wiseburg, Indiana to Walter C. and Mary E. (Weil) Zimmer. On December 23, 1955 he married Edit Smith.

Wilbur proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was a farmer most of his life and enjoyed every moment of it. Wilbur spent many years working at Hill-Rom where he later retired.  He was also a member of the Morris Fire Department and Sunman Legion. When Wilbur was not farming, he could often be found working in his garden or going to auctions to try and get a good deal. He loved to tinker around and cut wood, especially wooden stars. More than anything, Wilbur was a family man and cherished his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Wilbur will be deeply missed by his children, Kathy Gerbig (Jeff), Raymond Zimmer (Fran), Julie McIntosh (Gary); grandchildren, Benjamin Braun, Kayla Bright, Amanda Meyer, Abby Zimmer, Brent Bowling; great grandchildren, Emily and Michael Braun, Lexie Meyer, Stetson Stutz; sister, Virginia Smith (Leslie).

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Edith, and granddaughter, Heather Wells.

Visitation will be held Monday, April 18, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with funeral services beginning at 1:00 PM all at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial will follow immediately at Batesville Methodist Cemetery with graveside military honors.

Memorials in honor of Wilbur may be given to the Morris Fire Department. They may be brought to services or mailed to: Meyers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 202, Batesville, IN 47006.
