Kenneth E. “Gus” Luken, 87, Greensburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at the Aspen Place Health Campus in Greensburg.
Born, July 29, 1934 in Millhousen, Indiana, he was the son of Louis F. and Martha M. (Rolfes) Luken.
Ken graduated in 1952 from Greensburg High School. He served in Germany with the Army from 1955 – 1957. Ken returned home and worked at the Greensburg Daily News until his retirement. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved following the Greensburg Pirates. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Ken was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
He was married to Mary Jane Gannon on September 7, 1957 and she preceded him in death on October 18, 1981.
He is survived by two children, Tim (Tonja) Luken, Mishawaka, IN and Peggy Williams, Batesville; grandchildren, Brady (Rachel) Luken, Blake Luken, Luke Williams, Jordan Elliott, Autumn (Josh) Royston, Amelia Elliott; great grandchildren, Harper Luken, Grant Luken, Cora Royston.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; two brothers, Bert and Carl Luken; four sisters, Imogene Luken, Marian Hunter, Dorothy Overpeck, Rita Burkert.
Family and friends will gather at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg to pray the rosary. Visitation will follow until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family will also receive friends from 9:00 – 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greensburg. The funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. John Meyer officiating.
Interment will be held in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Greensburg.
