Batesville Board of Works approves chassis, motor purchase for ambulance

BATESVILLE, IN — The Batesville Board of Works on Monday night approved the purchase of a chassis and motor for a Fire and EMS ambulance from Horton Emergency Vehicles of Grove City, Ohio for $245,292.

The ambulance is a 2013 model that was purchased and added to the fleet in 2015, but city leaders say the chassis and motor have some wear and tear on them.

The current chassis and motor have undergone more than $21,000 in maintenance and repairs over the past two years.

The Board of Works had options to either purchase a new ambulance or keep the box where the emergency medical work is performed and buy a new chassis and motor.

They chose the latter option, which saved taxpayers an estimated $75,000.
