Rodney Gene “Hot Rod” Rumsey

Rodney Gene “Hot Rod” Rumsey, 55, of Aurora, Indiana, passed away Thursday, December 30, 2021, in Edgewood, Kentucky.

He was born January 27, 1966, in Lawrenceburg, IN, son of Delmar and Barbara (Hayhurst) Rumsey.

Rodney worked as a Truck Driver for Crum Trucking, Inc. with 10 years of service. His main route was to Texas. He has been a professional truck driver for over 32 years, and has recorded over 3 million miles in his log book.

Rodney, also known as “Hot Rod”, loved to drive anything including cars, trucks, and tractors. He loved most forms of music and to play the drums. He loved to shoot guns, he was a big fan of Nascar Racing, Pro Wrestling, Cincinnati Reds and the Cincinnati Bengals. Rodney also enjoyed watching movies. He loved to post interesting things on social media to obtain reactions from people and to stimulate conversations.
Rodney is survived by his siblings, Angie Rumsey of Hebron, KY, Teresa Martin of Versailles, IN, Robert Rumsey of Aurora, IN; brother-in-law, Gerald Vornheder of Aurora, IN; sister-in-law, Nancy Rumsey of Moores Hill, IN; thirteen nieces and nephews, and numerous great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Delmar & Barbara; sister, Sue Vornheder; brothers, Richard & Tony Rumsey.

Friends will be received Thursday, January 6, 2022, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm at the Hope Baptist Church, 15593 US 50, Dillsboro, IN. 47018.

Services will be held at the church Friday at 11:00 am with Pastor Tom Holt officiating.

Interment will follow in the Hogan Hill Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana.
