Mary Jaynene Steuri, age 71, passed away at Decatur County Hospital on December 15, 2021. She was born on April 22, 1950 in Edmonton, Kentucky. The first of five children for the late JT and Anna (Jesse) England.
Life would see the England family move to the Columbus, Indiana. Mary graduated from Columbus North High School. Over the years she held many jobs outside of the home including Cummins, Pamida and GeCom.
Mary’s time at Cummins would forever change her life. In 1980, she met a fellow employee from the Napoleon. Jim Steuri and Mary were united in marriage on May 23, 1981. Soon after, their new family moved to the Steuri farm outside of Napoleon.
Mary’s family was her pride and joy. She was immensely proud of her children and grandchildren. She was quick to tell anyone of their many accomplishments. She enjoyed being at home, speed reading numerous books, or watching the newest gadget on QVC. Jim and Mary liked to take rides around the community and see what was happening.
She will be deeply missed by husband Jim, son Tom (Theresa) Puterbaugh, daughter Marlene (James) Downey, grandchildren; Dalton, Justin, and Nicole, brother Terry (Connie) England, and sister Kathy Forrest. She was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Penny Brown and Lisa Burton.
Visitation will be held on Sunday December 19, 2021 from 2-5 pm. At Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood. Funeral services will be held on Monday December 20, 2021 at 11 am., at St John Lutheran Church in Napoleon. Doors at the church will open at 10 am.
