Barbara Ann (McKinney) Welch, 91

Barbara Ann (McKinney) Welch, 91, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on December 5, 2021, in Denver. She was a long-time resident of Greensburg from 1952-2013. Barbara was born on March 1, 1930, the daughter of John and Eunice McKinney, and grew up in Johnson County, Indiana. She graduated from Center Grove High School in 1948, Franklin College in 1952, and received a Master’s degree in education from Ball State University in 1957. On June 20, 1954, she married Richard Welch of Greensburg, in Stones Crossing, Johnson County. From 1952 to 1970, Barbara was a junior high and high school teacher (English and Home Economics) for Greensburg Community Schools. In 1984, Barbara began 20 years working at the Decatur County Public Library, retiring at 74 in December 2004. She was active in the Greensburg United Methodist Church, serving as president of United Methodist Women several times. Other organizations included Delta Kappa Gamma, Southeastern Indiana Phi Beta Phi Alumni, Psi
Iota Xi and DAR.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Richard Welch.
Survivors include son David Welch of Denver; son Mark (Sue) Welch of Wellington, Florida, and daughter Diana (Derek) Linderman of Boise, Idaho; four grandchildren, Jonathan Welch, Melissa (Welch) Edwards, Kellen Linderman and Gabriel Linderman, and one great-granddaughter born this November, James Marie Edwards. Barbara has a surviving sister, Sue (McKinney) LaMastus, of Greenwood.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, December 17, 2021 at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home from 11:00 am until the time of the Funeral service at 1:00 pm, with the Rev.
