The following are boys junior high basketball recaps from Saturday, December 4.
The St. Louis fifth and sixth grade won their holiday tournaments.
The Cardinals fifth beat St. Michaels 21-6, shut out St. Lawrence 25-nothing in game two and then edged St. Michaels again in the championship 15-13.
The Cardinals sixth had an early 20-16 victory over St. Michaels. Caleb Harmeyer tallied 14 points. And in the finals, the Redbirds beat Milan 36-10. Sam Dice and Ray Walke put in 12 points each. Calvin Padgett added eight and Harmeyer secured 10 rebounds.
Batesville competed at the Waldron Reindeer RoundUp Tourney.
The BMS seventh grade won the event by beating Jennings County 37-32 and Indian Creek 35-14 in the championship. Eight points from Cole Abrams and seven by Preston Blessing led the Dogs against the Panthers. Carson Hartley’s 15 points and Caleb Laker’s eight were best in the title game against the Indians.
Batesville’s eighth grade beat JenCo 42-23 but lost to the Creek in the finals 38-29. Owen Enneking’s 14 points paced the Bulldogs in game one. Trenton Luers led with nine points in the title game. Cannon Clark picked up six points in both games.
