Big comeback by EC in Ohio highlights Saturday boys’ hoops slate

The following are boys basketball recaps from Saturday, December 4.

East Central won 58-55 in overtime at Northwest of Ohio. 

The Trojans battled back from a 15 point deficit with just 2:16 left to play in regulation.

Caleb Mergenthal headed the EC scoring with 19 points and made all eight of his free throws.  Cooper Hoog scored 10 and had five rebounds.

Jac-Cen-Del won 85-81 at South Decatur.

The Eagles were paced by 37 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals from Wyatt Day. Caleb Simon amassed 25 points and 13 boards. Devin Grishop added 13 points.

For the Cougars, Hunter Johnson dialed up 27 points and 12 rebounds.  Jacob Scrubbs netted 23 points and five assists. Dale Peters and Evan Wullenweber added 13 and 10 points respectively.

Lawrenceburg bested Milan 66-41.

Logan Rohrer had 16 points and six assists for the Tigers, Jackson Bobo logged 14 points and five boards and Bobo brother Cooper had 11 points and five caroms as well.

Franklin County boys shut out Centerville in two different quarters and won 58-11. 

The Wildcats Chad Cox had 21 points, six rebounds and four steals.  Austin Hill added seven points.

The Brookville boys collected 21 steals and forced 30 Bulldog turnovers.

Connersville handled Shelbyville 65-37.

Lucas Barron led the Spartans with 19 points and Tobey Billups recorded 13 points, 10 assists and four steals.

Rushville lost to New Pal 67-49. 

Jerron Taylor had 25 points for the Lions.  Quentin Cain followed with nine.

Steele Brasfield logged 20 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Dragons.

Switzerland County was 50 points better than Crothersville 81-31. 

Cam Craig erupted for 32 points and seven rebounds.  Bryce Turner scored a dozen and Bryce Wrightsman added 11 points and four assists.

Waldron lost to Edinburgh 75-61. 

Bryce Yarling and Lucas Mitchell scored 21 and 18 respectively for the Mohawks.

The Lancers got 21 points from Caleb Dewy, 20 from Travis Jones and 19 from Landen Burton.  Mitchell and Dewey both booked 14 rebounds.

Southwestern Hanover took down Columbus East 50-31.

Mitch Mingione tallied 14 points for the Rebels.  Parker Davis had 13 points and nine rebounds. Colton Cloud contributed 11 points, four steals and four assists.
