BATESVILLE, IN — Margaret Mary Health (MMH) officials say the hospital is beginning to see COVID-19 patient volumes increase slightly again from what was experienced the first several weeks of November.
Many of the Indianapolis and Cincinnati tertiary hospitals are also experiencing higher volumes.
MMH currently has 20 patients on its Med/Surg floor, with one of those patients in the Special Care Unit. Eleven of the patients are COVID-positive and all are not vaccinated. The hospital’s overall percentage of admitted patients since August 1 who were unvaccinated increased slightly to 87% (see chart for more details).
The MMH Emergency Room continues to experience higher than anticipated volumes with an increase of more than 25% in patients seen in November 2021 compared to November 2020.
The hospital’s COVID-19 testing volumes went up significantly toward the end of November, with 75 patients testing positive this past week, and an overall positivity rate of 28.8% (see chart).
Children ages 5 and older are now able to get an age-appropriate dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
Everyone ages 18 and older are also now recommended to receive a booster shot if it has been at least 6 months after completing the Pfizer or Moderna vaccination series, or at least 2 months after completing the Johnson & Johnson vaccination.
