Cornelia C. Hoffman

Cornelia C. “Cornie” Hoffman, age 78 of Dover, died Sunday, November 14, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Dearborn Hospital. Born December 26, 1942 in Ripley County Indiana, she is the daughter of Bessie (Nee: Grills) and Paul Wissel. She married Conrad Hoffman May 9, 1964 at St. Anthony’s Church in Morris. She was the Senior Branch Administrator at Edward Jones for nearly 20 years.

Cornie had two passions. She loved spending time with her family and was extremely fond of cats. She also enjoyed working in the garden, raising flowers, embroidering and made baby quilts for many in the family. Work was never far from her mind though, as she followed the financial reports and the market daily. Cornie was from the generation that newspapers were a part of the daily routine and delighted in reading it from front to back. Her family also mentioned she was an exceptional baker and her coffee cakes were absolutely delicious.

She is survived by her husband Conrad “Bob”; daughters Amy (Dan) Wissel of Austin, Texas, Cathy Hoffman of Dover; grandchildren Eli Wissel, Emily (Ben) Ramsey, Ethan Wissel, and Megan (Brady) Millholland and sister Eleen Weisenbach of Batesville. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sister Katy Hortemiller and grandson Caleb Wissel.

Visitation is Wednesday, November 24th from 9 – 10:45 a.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home. Funeral services follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Martin’s Church in Yorkville with Rev. Jonathan Meyer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family requests memorials to the Adam Hortemiller Memorial Scholarship Fund or the Bright E.M.S. For online condolences go to www.weigelfh.com.
