James L. “Jim” Baer, 88, of Holiday, Florida, formerly of Aurora, Indiana passed away Monday, November 1, 2021, in Port Richie, Florida.
He was born March 11, 1933, in Aurora, IN, son of the late Raymond George Baer and Minnie (Ahrens) Baer.
Jim served his country as a member of the United States Air Force. He worked at G.E as a Jet engine tester, retiring after over 38 years of service. He was a member of Aurora American Legion and Aurora VFW. Jim was an avid golfer and has played in all 50 states. He enjoyed working outdoors, tinkering around the farm on the different equipment. He loved traveling, woodworking projects, and animals. He was an avid sports fan, watching football, baseball and college basketball. He also watched the Game Show Network. He loved spending time with his family, playing board games, dominoes, and card games. Jim didn’t know a stranger and always had a smile on his face. He loved the time with his wife, Janet, of 30 years. They were inseparable. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Jim is survived by his loving spouse of 30 years, Janet Miller Baer of Holiday, FL., daughters, Jodi (Eric) Hussung of Aurora, IN, Juli Baer (Josh) Samet of Washington DC; step-children, Brad (Jonna) Miller of Cincinnati, OH, Tami Anderson of Cincinnati, OH; brother, Victor (Aileen) Baer of Aurora, IN; grandchildren, Christian Hussung, Madison Love, Ryan Hussung, Jade Samet, Alli Miller, Zac Miller, Brady Anderson, Kelli Anderson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond & Minnie; siblings, Rosemary Kurita, Ted Baer, Robert Baer, & Dutch Baer.
A memorial visitation will be on Friday, November 19, 2021 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, IN.
A Celebration of Life services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 am at the funeral home.
