Both Oldenburg and South Decatur celebrated Senior Night Friday in Westport. The game celebration though was enjoyed by the host Cougars who defeated the Twisters 27-6.
South Decatur saw Kelby Shook throw for 217 yards and two touchdowns with Jacob Scruggs on the receiving end of both scores and 149 yards in receptions. Rushing TDs for the Cougars were carded by Rhett Martin and Shook who had 56 combined yards on the ground.
There were some close moments for the Twisters who did move the ball, but they could not capitalize on most of the drives. OA senior Caleb Lehman rushed for 167 yards while classmate CJ Grote had the lone Twister touchdown on a 3-yard quarterback draw. OA senior Mark Wolfe led the teams in tackles, including two sacks.
“We are so close,” said Oldenburg coach Bryan Mitchell. “That was the best game we’ve played all year, but we just couldn’t take advantage of some close situations. This game proved we can move the ball and do what we need to do for our first sectional opponent.”
Coach Mitchell also wanted to thank all his seniors and everyone who has helped to support the seniors this season.
