Wounded local Marine facing a long road to recovery

WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Marine Corporal Kelsee Lainhart continues her recovery at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, D.C. after she was wounded in last week’s terrorist attack at the airport in Kabul, Afghanistan.

Family members posted on social media that Lainhart, who is a 2019 graduate of East Central High School, has a breathing tube and cannot speak, but she is responding.

Lainhart also has shrapnel in her temple above her right eye and near her spinal cord.

The family says Corporal Lainhart has a long road to recovery, and they continue to ask the community for prayers.
