WASHINGTON, DC — A 2019 East Central High School graduate who was wounded in last week’s terrorist attack in Afghanistan is back in the United States.
Marine Corporal Kelsee Lainhart is being treated at Walter Reed Hospital in Washington, DC after she was hit by shrapnel and suffered serious wounds.
Lainhart is stable after undergoing surgery on Sunday. But according to social media posts, she was visited by her parents, and she is responding.
However, Lainhart has a long road to recovery and the family continues to ask for prayers from the community.
Thirteen U.S. service members and around 180 Afghanis were killed in the suicide bombing at the Kabul airport.
