Raymond B. Geis, 91, of Greensburg passed away on August 24, 2021. He was born on February 13, 1930 in Greensburg the son of Fred and Matilda Haunert Geis. Ray was a 1948 graduate of New Point High School. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War, reaching the rank of Staff Sargent. On February 20, 1954 he married Wanda June Wallpe and together they had five children. Ray co-owned and operated Geis-Senft Incorporated and retired in 1992. He was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, K of C, Decatur County Republican Party, served as Decatur County Republican Chairman, served as Decatur County Precinct Committeeman, the Power of the Past, and Decatur County Merit Board. Ray was a collector of John Deere tractors and hit or miss engines.
Survivors include: Sons, Gregory Geis and David (Rita) Geis; Daughters, Yvonne Geis, Nita (Darrow) McCreary, and Jean (Tony) Stacy; Grandchildren, Adria (Carlton) Racette, Grant (Jenny Siebert) Geis, Trevor (Merrilee York) Stacy, Nora (Aaron) Bruns, Courtney (Jason) Raver, and Kayla (Robert S. Houfek) Geis; Great Grandchildren, Alexandria Racette, Liam Racette, Brooks Raver, and Donald Bruns; Brother, Carl Geis; and Sister, Marita Billman. He was preceded in death by his Wife, Wanda June Geis and Brother, Al Geis.
A rosary will be prayed on Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church at 8:30 am. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:00 am until the time of the Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Father John Meyer will be officiating. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery with Military Graveside Honors. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
