All four area counties see drop in unemployment

SOUTHEASTERN IN — All four area counties saw a drop in unemployment in July.

Franklin County had the lowest jobless rate at 3.2 percent, which was down from 3.5 percent in June; Ripley and Decatur counties each checked in at 3.3 percent, and Dearborn County was at 3.4 percent last month.

Ripley County’s unemployment rate fell from 3.6 percent in June, while Decatur County’s dropped from 3.9 percent. Dearborn County’s jobless rate went down from 3.8 percent the month before.

All four local counties’ unemployment rates in July were lower than the state average of 4.2 percent.

The numbers were released Monday by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development.
