BATESVILLE, IN — A group of teenagers created a wiffleball league this summer. It’s been a popular league that welcomes the public to watch as they compete at 943 South Park Avenue in Batesville.
The teenagers partnered with The 812 and the Ripley County Community Foundation (RCCF) to host a public fundraiser during their World Series game this Friday. They will be accepting donations for Turnover Hunger which provides food on the weekends for less fortunate school children.
Turnover Hunger is an initiative through the RCCF and each year fans of the Oldenburg Academy, Batesville, and Milan high school football teams raise funds to support needy students in Ripley County. The program has collectively raised more than $10,000 since its inception and has also started an endowment fund at the Community Foundation that will continue supporting the teams’ efforts forever.
Co-founder Riley Schebler, who interns at RCCF, created the fundraiser saying, “We all enjoy coming out here and playing wiffleball and glad to make an impact for others.”
The wiffleball game is open to the public and there will be food and refreshments. The game starts at 6 pm.
