GREENSBURG, IN — Greensburg/Decatur County Economic Development Director Bryan Robbins gave Greensburg City Council an update Monday night on the READI grant process.
Robbins says community input sessions that were held last week were quite productive.
“We broke into sectors and talked about things they’d like to see in the community, what potential they see in not only the City of Greensburg but Decatur County as a whole, and we really thought the groups knocked it out of the park as far as some of the ideas they came up with,” Robbins said.
As for the next step, Robbins says each partner in the region will gather ideas and suggestions and bring them together from a regional standpoint, and look at projects that might impact the region as opposed to one of the city or county partners.
“And then we’ll put together our story as a region and what we want to be and what we see ourselves becoming down the line,” Robbins added. “It’s a historical instance, this opportunity, this dangled carrot of $50 million from the State.”
Greensburg and Decatur County are part of Accelerate Rural Indiana, along with the cities of Batesville, Rushville, and Shelbyville plus Rush and Shelby counties.
