Doris Ann Tebbing Droege was born on March 31, 1935 to Ernest and Edna (Klusman) Thomas in Cross Plains, Indiana. She was baptized on April 14, 1935 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dewberry. Doris was confirmed in faith on March 21, 1948 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Dewberry. She graduated from Cross Plains High School in 1953. Two years later, she married Ray Francis Tebbing on June 4, 1955. Doris and Ray had three children: Cheryl (Tebbing-Heckman), Cathy (Meyer), and Randy Tebbing and in 1980 added Jenny (Martinez). Doris and Ray were married until Ray’s death on August 21, 1996. Doris worked as a bookkeeper at Halcomb Home Center in Versailles and also at Custom Conveyors in Greensburg, IN. On June 12, 1999, Doris married Karl Droege. They were married until his death on March 30, 2018. Doris will be missed by her loving family: Cheryl Tebbing Heckman (Rodney), Cathy Meyer (Ed), Randy Tebbing (Toni), and Jenny G. Martinez (Larry); her stepdaughter, Vicky Caviness; and her grandchildren: Ryan Hinojosa (Jessica), Krista Jones (Andrew), Jenna Green (Preston), Jared Meyer, Mikaela Tebbing, and Neil Meyer. Doris enjoyed shopping, gardening, and playing the organ. She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest William Fredrick Thomas and Edna (Klusman) Thomas; her brother, Harold Thomas; her husbands Ray Francis Tebbing and Karl Droege; and her stepson, Mike Droege. Visitation will be at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles on Thursday, July 1st, 2021, from 4:30pm to 7:30pm and the funeral will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Olean on Friday, July 2nd, 2021 at 11:00am with Rev. Sue Socha officiating. Memorials can be made to St. Peter’s Cemetery Fund or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Improvement Fund in care of the funeral home.
